Our Story

Van Scoy Diamond Mine was founded in 1945 by Thomas A. Van Scoy Sr. After returning from his service in the army, he and his wife Elizabeth recognized a need for quality jewelry at an affordable price, and the “Van Scoy Legacy” was born.

With over 75 years of being in business, Thomas was well known as the “GI Jeweler”! With hard work, dedication, and community support, he soon became known as “The Diamond King”!

Wayne Van Scoy carries on his father’s legacy, creating magnificent diamond jewelry at an affordable cost. Van Scoy Diamond Mine is just as proud of the business today as they were in 1945, and enjoys being an integral part of the local community. Van Scoy Diamond Mine is an enthusiastic sponsor of the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, (the AHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins National Hockey team). They have sponsored numerous Indy and stock-car races, as well as several local youth sports camps. Van Scoy Diamond Mine also supports and donates to the local SPCA, various children’s hospitals, and they are the official jeweler of the “Mohegan Sun Arena.”
